100 Flavours of Anghiari, Tuscany

Anghiari is a wonderful,
medieval town in Tuscany and,
until the 4th of November,
hosts 'I Centogusti dell'Appennino'
(100 Flavours of the Appennino Mountains).
is a market/exhibition
dedicated to agritusmos and enogastronomy,
showing the excellence of food which comes from agriculture.

Here are some recent photos of Anghiari,
taken by Samuel Webster

The story of Il Fontanaro Organic Farmhouse & Alina Pinelli

Once upon a time,
there was a clever girl, Alina Pinelli, working in communication just like me.
She quit it,
to develop her family's project,
ending up in the "glocal" philosphy.
Read the story of Alina below,
and watch the video of
that we made for Bella Toscana

Alina says, "We bought a ruin from the 18 century more than 30 years ago, with about 50 acres of land, and gradually restored it into a country home for our family. We started planting olive trees until we reached the present number of 2000. Now, we produce our own extra virgin organic olive oil, honey and saffron. We have also expanded and developed the property, transforming it into a small tourist rural resort accommodating up to 18 guests with very high comfort and great personal care for our guests, since they are like friends for us, not just customers. We like to share with our guests our love for local, genuine food matched with great wines from our cellar (approximately 2500 bottles from all over Italy and the world), organizing cooking classes, and wine and oil tasting. We also love to transfer our passion and interest for the country life to our guests and we suggest and organize visits to many artistic and cultural destinations in the surrounding Umbrian and Tuscan towns."

Museo di Ferragamo for Bella Toscana

What impressed me the most of our interview and visit with
fabulous Paola Gusella
was:
A)the reason of his success, which is the title of our video
B)yes, I have to admit that, a pair of
red
sparkling
shoes.
I was in love,
first sight.
Watch the video that we made
in Museo di Ferragamo.

September in Tuscany

September in Tuscany is just fantastic...
fairs, "sagre", festivals, history and culture
which end up in heaps of wine and food.
Just in and around Arezzo,
in the first 2 weeks,
you will find
Palio dei Lumi in Pieve Santo Stefano.

Watch the video that we made
for Bella Toscana about the start of
Palio dei Lumi.

Behind the Chianti Postcard

I remember when I was in Sydney
and everybody was asking me
"are you really from Tuscany?"
It was a funny question, 'cause I couldn't see "the postcard".
After 2 years far away, I could see "the postcard",
and now I've been taking Samuel Webster
behind "the postcard"
and yes, I'm really from Tuscany.

Here are some photos of the Chianti area.

BELLA TOSCANA: Archivio Diaristico Nazionale Foundation

The Archivio Diaristico Nazionale Foundation was born in 1984 in Pieve Santo Stefano
a little village in Tuscany which was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, from an idea by the writer and journalist Saverio Tutino
There are a total of 7000 documents including memoirs, diaries, letters and autobiographies. While travelling for Bella Toscana, we had the opportunity to spend time in the archive, finding our way through many interesting diaries. This video is our way to say thank you, and to show the archive to the rest of the world.

People and stories in Florence

We started Bella Toscana in Florence
with the people

and their stories
There is our favourite guy in the historical San Lorenzo food market.
then there is Luca, who gives new life to lost soul furniture in San Frediano
Roberto, who offered us a coffee, a real one, while telling us the secrets of the market.
I want to point out that not one of them had time to stop and pose,
but they had no problem sharing their stories with us.
